The <strong>geological matrix<\/strong> of this parcel, located in the Calderara Sottana area, has its origins in <strong>ancient basaltic lava flows<\/strong> dating back between 60,000 and 15,000 years ago. The soil appears as an <strong>extremely rocky mineral mosaic<\/strong>, where large fragments of lightweight basalt, about the size of a fist, alternate with layers of black pumice and compact formations of solidified lava. The district itself takes its name from this unique composition: the <strong>dark volcanic stone<\/strong> absorbs the intense heat of the Sicilian sun during the day and gradually releases it throughout the night. This phenomenon <strong>mitigates temperature fluctuations<\/strong> and helps create a <strong>particularly favorable microclimate<\/strong> for grape ripening. Approximately <strong>one hectare of vineyard<\/strong>, dedicated to <strong>Nerello Mascalese<\/strong>, preserves an intimate and protected rural landscape, conceived as a true <strong>French-style Clos<\/strong>. The vineyard stretches across elegant terraces supported by dry-stone walls, within which stand a small historic palmento and olive trees of the <strong>Nocellara<\/strong> and <strong>Brandofino<\/strong> varieties. The <strong>agronomic management<\/strong> at Calderara requires constant and complete dedication: every operation is carried out entirely by hand, in full respect of natural rhythms.
